I have noticed that since early April all the blue tits that were feeding from my bird feeder suddingly disappeared. However a increase in the population of blackbirds seemed to have increased.

Is this normal? What is happening?

Don’t know where your bluetits have gone but I had a pair in my box. There were 8 eggs. One by one 6 have died. The mother has managed to take them out of the box. Two remain, fingers crossed these survive. My box has been used by bluetits for the last 6 years with very few losses. Another box has Great tits but sadly no camera in that one. Both parents keep going in and out all day so would assume chicks in there.. My friend a few miles away had 10 bluetit chicks in her box but sadly all have died. Is there a problem this year?

Blue tits have regularly used my nest boxes but this year there were blue tits entering the boxes but none have bred. I have very rare sightings of these birds in my garden this year. I have had blackbirds successfully raising families, one or two of the young are very bold, they come into my conservatory for meal worms and feed at my feet.

The blue tits that were feeding in my garden from my feeder have disappeared in the last week – August. I did notice a line magpie – could this be a factor?
