Grit is an essential dietary supplement for cage and aviary birds. Because birds have no teeth, grit acts as a grinding agent in the gizzard, helping to break down hard seeds and other food into digestible nutrients. Without it, birds can struggle to process their diet efficiently.

Our cage and aviary grit range includes:

  • Mineralised grit — a blend of insoluble grit and soluble minerals including calcium, supporting both digestion and bone health
  • Plain flint grit — insoluble grit that stays in the gizzard to grind seed; suitable for all seed-eating species
