How to Feed
Feed as a supplementary afternoon treat alongside a complete organic layers pellet ration. Offer a small handful (around 20g) per hen in the afternoon, after hens have eaten their main ration. Always ensure fresh, clean water is available at all times. Not a complete feed — must be fed alongside a balanced layers ration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Soil Association certified organic?
Yes — The Organic Feed Company Organic Mixed Corn is certified by the Soil Association and made with 100% organically grown ingredients. No synthetic pesticides, herbicides, GM ingredients or hexane-extracted ingredients are used.
What is in the mix?
The blend contains organic wheat, organic maize and soya oil — providing a nutritious mix of carbohydrates, energy and essential fats as a treat ration.
Is this a complete feed?
No — organic mixed corn is a supplementary treat and should be fed alongside a complete organic layers pellet ration. Feeding as a sole diet leads to nutritional imbalances. We recommend pairing with The Organic Feed Company Organic Layers Pellets.
How much should I feed per hen?
Around 20g per hen per day in the afternoon — after hens have eaten their main layers pellet ration. Overfeeding corn can dilute the nutritional intake from the complete feed.
Why does River Cottage use this?
River Cottage, founded by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, is one of the UK’s most respected advocates for organic, sustainable and ethical food production. Their use of The Organic Feed Company’s products is a genuine endorsement of quality and organic integrity.
How should I store organic mixed corn?
Store in a cool, dry, vermin-proof container away from moisture to prevent mould and maintain freshness.
