Extra Select Wild Bird Food Peanuts — High-Grade, High-Energy Peanuts for Wild Birds

Extra Select Wild Bird Peanuts are high-grade peanuts selected for their high oil content, calorific value and protein level. Extra Select only use peanuts that meet their high-grade standard — lower-grade peanuts simply don’t provide the energy and oil content that wild birds need. Always feed from a peanut feeder. Available in 5kg and 12.75kg.

Key Benefits

  • High-grade peanuts — selected for high oil content and calorific value
  • High in protein, energy and natural oils
  • No basic-grade peanuts — consistently high quality
  • Always feed from a peanut feeder mesh to prevent choking hazards
  • Available in 5kg and 12.75kg

How to Feed

Always feed from a mesh peanut feeder — this ensures birds can only take small pieces at a time, preventing choking hazards for fledglings and small birds. Hang at least 1.5m from the ground. During the breeding season (April–August), ensure the mesh prevents whole peanuts being removed. Store in a cool, dry place. Complementary food for wild birds. Not for human consumption.

Suitable for attracting

Blue tit, great tit, coal tit, nuthatch, great spotted woodpecker, greenfinch, house sparrow and many more garden birds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why must peanuts be fed from a mesh feeder?
Whole peanuts are a choking hazard for fledglings and small birds. A mesh peanut feeder ensures birds can only take small pieces at a time. During the breeding season (April–August) this is especially important as parent birds may carry whole peanuts to feed their chicks.

What makes Extra Select peanuts high-grade?
Extra Select peanuts are selected specifically for high oil content and calorific value. Higher oil content means more energy per gram — important for birds that need to maintain body condition through cold weather or the demands of breeding.

Are these safe for all garden birds?
Yes — when fed correctly from a mesh feeder, peanuts are suitable for a wide range of garden birds. Always use a proper peanut feeder and never offer loose whole peanuts during the breeding season.
