Frequently Asked Questions

Why is drainage important in a peanut feeder?
Water pooling inside a feeder can cause peanuts to become wet and mouldy, which can be harmful to birds. The built-in drainage solution in this feeder helps water escape, keeping peanuts drier and fresher for longer.

How do I clean this feeder?
Clean and disinfect regularly — at least once a month, or more frequently in warm weather. Use a mild disinfectant, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before refilling.

Is this feeder suitable for use during the breeding season?
Yes — the mesh design ensures birds can only take small pieces of peanut at a time, which is important during the breeding season (April–August) when parent birds may carry food to nestlings. Whole peanuts can be a choking hazard for young birds.
