Johnston & Jeff Dried Mealworms 1kg — Essential Insect Protein for Garden Birds
Insects form a natural and essential part of the diet of many garden birds. The protein they provide is critical for maintaining muscle mass, supporting feather growth and fuelling the demands of breeding. Johnston & Jeff Dried Mealworms provide exactly the right type of insect protein birds need — and should be fed year-round, but particularly in winter when cold weather kills off most natural insect life.

How to Feed
Offer in a bird table dish, ground feeder or specialist mealworm feeder. In spring, soak in warm water for 20–30 minutes before serving to soften them for fledglings. Feed year-round, increasing quantities during the breeding season and in cold winter weather.
Suitable for
Blackbirds, robins, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, bullfinches, buntings, linnets, starlings, wagtails, goldfinches, chaffinches, greenfinches, dunnocks, great spotted woodpeckers, tree sparrows, house sparrows, nuthatches, siskins, song thrushes, mistle thrushes, bramblings, stonechats, wrens and yellowhammers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I soak dried mealworms before feeding?
Soaking is optional but recommended in spring when fledglings are being fed. Soaking in warm water for 20–30 minutes rehydrates the mealworms, making them softer and easier for young birds to swallow. Adult birds will readily eat dry mealworms.
