Frequently Asked Questions
Why are sprouted seeds better than dry seeds?
Sprouting activates enzymes and dramatically increases the vitamin content of seeds — particularly vitamins B, C and E. Sprouted seeds are also more digestible than dry seeds, making them easier for birds to process and absorb nutrients from.
When is sprouted seed most beneficial?
Sprouted seed is particularly beneficial during the breeding season when birds have elevated nutritional needs, and in spring when it helps bring birds into breeding condition. It is also valuable during the moult.
