Frequently Asked Questions

What is the I.C.+ (Immunity Concept+) pellet?
The I.C.+ pellet is Versele-Laga’s proprietary performance pellet included in the Plus range. It delivers essential amino acids, vitamins, calcium and L-carnitine in a highly digestible form — nutrients that cannot easily be incorporated into grain at the required levels. It is included to provide nutritional support during the breeding season.

What is L-carnitine and why is it included?
L-carnitine is an amino acid compound involved in fat metabolism and energy production at the cellular level. It is included in the I.C.+ pellet as part of the Plus range specification to provide nutritional support during the demanding breeding season.

Why only 20% maize?
High-maize mixes can result in selective feeding and significant waste, as maize is often the first seed consumed and leftovers may go stale. At 20%, Start Plus I.C.+ maintains the energy benefits of maize while encouraging consumption of the full mix — including the nutritionally important I.C.+ pellets — rather than selective picking.

When should I use this vs a racing mix?
Start Plus I.C.+ is formulated for the breeding season — from pairing through to weaning of young birds. Once the breeding season is complete, transition to an appropriate maintenance or training mix suited to your race programme.

How should I store a 20kg sack?
Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed airtight container or bin away from direct sunlight and pests. Keep sealed between uses to maintain freshness of both the grain and the I.C.+ pellets.
